아래는 위가 없이도 존재한다

Look at the economy of life.
The lower can exist without the higher but the higher cannot exist without the lower, that's why it is higher.
I am not creating a paradox, it is simple: the foundation of a building can exist without the building, but the building cannot exist without the foundation.
A man can exist in darkness, but a man cannot exist in light alone.
A man can live the life of a sinner because it is lower, but a man cannot live only the life of a saint.
The higher needs the lower.
It is lower because it can exist without the higher -- the higher is not a necessity for it -- but the higher cannot exist without the lower.
The roots can exist without the tree, that is nothing impossible.
If you cut the tree, the roots will still exist and a new tree will be born; but try the other way -- cut the roots -- new roots will not be born.
The lower is essential, the higher is a luxury;
it comes only when the lower is fulfilled.
It is possible only when the lower has been transcended, not destroyed.

삶의 경제를 살펴보라.
아래는 위가 없이도 존재할 수 있다.
그러나 위는 아래 없이는 존재하지 못한다.
위가 되는 이유는 아래가 있기 때문이다.
나는 어떤 역설을 만들려는 것이 아니다.
이것은 단순한 현상이다.
기초는 건물 없이도 존재할 수 있으나
건물은 기초 없이 존재하지 못한다.
사람은 어둠 속에서는 존재할 수 있지만
빛 속에서만은 존재할 수 없다.
사람은 죄인의 삶을 살 수 있다.
죄인의 삶은 아랫부분이기 때문이다.
그러나 오직 성자의 삶만을 살 수는 없다.
위는 아래를 필요로 한다.
아래는 위가 없이도 존재할 수 있기 때문에 아래인 것이다.
위는 아래에 반드시 필요한 존재는 아니다.
그러나 위는 아래 없이는 존재할 수 없다.
뿌리는 나무 없이 존재할 수 있다.
그것은 불가능한 일이 아니다.
나무를 잘라내도 뿌리는 여전히 존재한다.
그리고 새 나무가 생겨난다.
그러나 그와 반대로 뿌리를 잘라 보라.
새 뿌리는 생겨나지 않는다.
아래는 필수적이며 근본적이다.
그러나 위는 일종의 사치이다.
위는 아래가 충족될 때 비로소 생겨난다.
위는 아래가 파괴될 때가 아니라
초월될 때 비로소 가능한 것이다.
